The Mangu sandy beach is situated in the western part of the Tahkuna Peninsula, partially in the Kõrgessaare-Mudaste Limited Conservation Area. The purpose of this conservation area is the protection of coastal habitats and bird species. The conservation area as a whole belongs to the Natura 2000 network. When you look around, you can spot sea peas
(Lathyrus maritimus) growing on coastal dunes; common ringed plovers (Charadrius hiaticula) and common redshanks (Tringa totanus) bustling about a bit away from the holiday-makers; and an occasional common shelduck (Tadorna tadorna) resting on the waterfront.
